After over a decade in the event planning business, I rarely come across an idea I haven’t gotten to plan personally. A super soft birthday party is one of those themes I would LOVE to plan but oddly haven’t gotten a chance. Apparently, my clients don’t watch Letterkenny like I do (blasphemy, I know). However, don’t fear; I will provide you with the best guide to Super Soft Birthday Party ideas.

Bottom Line Up Front

Out of all the Super Soft Birthday Party ideas, I’m going to have to recommend having at least one, if not more, pink boas. Why? It is the epitome of a super soft birthday party. Every time I think of the episode with Daryl’s super soft birthday party, I think of Daryl standing there with his pink boa, tiara on his head, and a fruity drink in his hand. The pink boa completes the look and would be the perfect addition to any super soft birthday party.

At the beginning of episode two, Daryl asks his friends if they can skip his birthday party that year. This simple question results in a firm no and them naming off all the things his mom used to do for his birthdays. Below are the super soft party ideas courtesy of Daryl’s mom.

Boy Band Karaoke

Enough said. Get yourselves a karaoke machine and belt out all the boy band hits you can.

Horse Dressed Like a Unicorn

Depending on where you live, a horse in costume might be a bit hard to pull off. The last time I had a request for a unicorn petting zoo, I had to arrange with a farm a good hour away to bring in miniature ponies (err, I mean unicorns). It meant our four-legged friends had to be trailered to the event location. Interestingly, I learned that if you want a white unicorn, it is harder to find and much more expensive than any other fur color.

Not interested in live animals at your party? Then try a stuffed animal or an inflatable unicorn of any size.

Cupcake Decorating Station

A cupcake decorating station was one of the things that happened at Daryl’s childhood parties. It’s also featured at the party in the episode. You can make this your own, but read the next section to hear what they did during the episode.

Charcuterie

At the beginning of the episode, the characters remember how Daryl’s mom would serve charcuterie at the party. However, when they recreate that for the party in the episode, it looks more like a deli meat tray than a charcuterie board. I recommend you go with the version you find more appealing.

Make the World a Better Place Theme

When I first thought of the “make the world a better place” party theme, all I could think about was the girl scout projects surrounding Earth Day. Why not borrow a page from their book and have a craft station where party-goers can display how they will make the world a better place.

Pink is a theme that seems to run through everything related to the super soft birthday party. It’s mentioned that Daryl’s mom loved adding pink to his childhood parties, and then the party shown in episode two is filled with pink.

When I think of a super soft birthday party, I think of Daryl standing there with his pink boa, tiara on his head, and a fruity drink in his hand. It is the epitome of a super soft birthday party. I highly recommend you get the guest of honor a pink boa to designate them the birthday person!

Unicorn Bride and Horse Groom Figurines

There are epic figurines for the dessert table: a unicorn bride and a horse groom. They seem to fit nicely into the ridiculous decor of the party.

Cupcake Station

As I mentioned earlier in the article, a cupcake station is one of the things that was featured in Daryl’s childhood parties and the one featured in the episode. The episode featured a cupcake station with unfrosted cupcakes with vanilla or chocolate frosting and four kinds of pink sugary toppings (various sprinkle types).

Bounce House

What is a super soft birthday party complete without a bounce house? I recommend finding an age-appropriate one (i.e., adult-sized and rated for the weight of adults) to avoid disasters.

Inflatable Palm Trees

The inflatable palm trees on the drink table were an excellent addition to the decor and easy to recreate for your own super soft birthday party celebration.

Pink and Yellow Cups/Plates

The color of the disposable cups and plates won’t make or break your party, but this is what Katy and Wayne had at their super soft birthday party for Daryl.

Pink Cotton Candy 

I love this addition. I must admit I think of Dan standing there with cotton candy and a party hat on top of his baseball hat when the challengers drive up. I’m also a fan of this for your super soft birthday party because it is relatively easy to find pink-colored cotton candy (as compared to some other colors).

Pink Globe Decor 

There are so many pink decorations during a super soft birthday party, one of which is a string of pink paper globes. I recommend having a similar garland at your celebration. It is an easy way to add more pink to your decor.

Pink and Purple Balloons

If you plan to add balloons to your celebration, go with pink and purple. The super soft birthday party in this episode was rocking both.

This jeep isn’t an essential staple of the super soft birthday party decor, but it was something that struck me when re-watching the episode. I found it amusing that they’d include that when there weren’t any young kids at the party.

Corabella Love Potion

This recipe is my favorite love potion cocktail. It is one that my husband made me on valentine’s day a few years back. We were on a triple date with some good friends and ended the night drinking these fun cocktails. The only thing to remember is to wait until the dry ice stops smoking before you try drinking it!

Passion Punch

Passion punch sounds like a fun fruity addition to your super soft birthday party. I interpreted it as a punch with passion fruit flavors. You can find the recipe for a rum-filled version here. Alternatively, you could serve a non-alcoholic fruit punch in its place.

Flirtini

Apricot Toblerone Cocktail 

When I first heard this in the episode, I was baffled and wondered if I’d heard that right. I used to be a bartender and had made plenty of fruity cocktails and some chocolatey ones, but I’d never heard of combining apricot and Toblerone into one drink. It sounded like something someone creates on the special menu primarily to get rid of a liqueur that isn’t selling well. Nevertheless, I was curious.

I looked high and low for an Apricot Toblerone Cocktail recipe. I found plenty of apricot cocktails and Toblerone cocktails, but never one combined the two tastes. I was disappointed I couldn’t find one. Since I can’t leave you without a workaround, here is my favorite of the Toblerone drinks I found. If you are brave, you can add a splash of apricot liqueur to achieve the elusive Apricot Toblerone Cocktail mentioned in Letterkenny.

Sparkling Mango Sorbet Float

Of all of the drinks that Katy mentions, this is by far my favorite. You can find the recipe here. Not only is it an excellent combination of flavors, but I also love that it can be made either alcoholic or non-alcoholic. As a pregnant woman, I am always looking for fun mocktail recipes.

Keg

A party standard! You can get a keg of any beer you like and still be on theme. If you want to take it a step further, try making the beer a pink hue. I immediately think of a raspberry hefeweizen or dying a light beer with food coloring (think St. Patty’s day in Boston with green beer just with pink dye). If you decide to go the pink beer route, wear gloves when adding the food coloring. My hands were green for weeks after working a St Patrick’s Day celebration, even after wearing gloves!
